WPC Group #apprentice Mikaela transfers her talent from a successful hairdressing career to challenging the boys @MercedesBenz Brisbane
After spending several years as a qualified Hairdresser, Mikaela realised her dream career was working at the other end of the spectrum and mixing it up with the “boys” in an automotive workshop.
In April 2017 Mikaela registered into a Certificate II in Light Vehicle at Skills Tech TAFE whilst continuing to work part time as a Hairdresser. Mikaela was quickly identified as an exceptional student, demonstrating skills and competency in both her theoretical and practical work.
WPC Group identified Mikaela’s talent at Skills Tech TAFE and arranged an interview for Mikaela to meet with Scott Newman (Service Manager – Mercedes Benz Brisbane – Eagle Farm). Scott was extremely impressed with Mikaela after their initial meeting and offered Mikaela the opportunity to commence an apprenticeship with Mercedes Benz Brisbane as a 1st year mature age apprentice.
Mikaela is thrilled to be working in a prestige dealership at Mercedes Benz Brisbane and is thoroughly enjoying working alongside quality technicians, albeit all male.
Mikaela is proud to represent females in a non-traditional trade and cannot wait to be the first “female” at Mercedes Benz Brisbane to become a qualified tradesperson.
