NISSMAP launched in New South Wales

Participants in the inaugural NSW NISSMAP class completed their second block last week at the Sydney Institute’s AutoCEL in Ultimo. As the first dedicated NSW Nissan class, the students from all corners of the State welcomed the delivery of a new Nissan Almera ST and other Nissan components to enhance their learning experience while at TAFE.
“The partnership between WPC Group, Nissan and Sydney Institute has been established as a part of our national NISSMAP (Mentored Apprenticeship Program) to train Nissan’s future technicians and retain the skills developed within Nissan over a longer period. The state of the art AutoCEL at Ultimo provides them with the very best in learning environments and it’s great to see the class enjoying their experience here” said Daniel Cairns, WPC Group General Manager. “We also look forward to training future apprentices via a Nissan dedicated pre-apprenticeship program at this world class facility in the second half f 2013 “ he added.
Peter Denison, Head Teacher at Ultimo AutoCEL agreed, “It’s great to see WPC Group and Nissan supporting the development of apprentices. The standard of participants in the program is outstanding in my opinion and we look forward to the future of this industry leading program”

Grand Prix Race Day with NISSMAP Apprentice Technicians
An eventful week for our NISSMAP Apprentices in Training. They spent most of the week receiving specialised training in all things Nissan at the Nissan Learning Academy and were treated to a day touring the 2013 Melbourne Grand Prix on Friday.
During the tour the Apprentice Technicians had the chance to watch the V8 Supercars race, received a guided tour of the Nissan Motorsport Garage and experience their awesome power upclose. Next was the opportunity to try out the Infinity Dyno, where some keen young drivers managed to break the 200kph mark. Though the highlight for most was watching the F1 cars practice sessions as well as the chance to meet a few Grid Girls.
